I have been fascinated with photography all my life. One of my early memories is that of begging my folks to let me take a photograph of the Big Thompson Canyon with their Brownie box camera when I was six years old. I insisted on shooting into the sun, much to my parents dismay, because I liked the way the light reflected off the water. They kept telling me “You have to have the sun at your back”.

After high school, college, 4-H, and Air Force photography training, I spent my working years as Director of Photography and photography instructor at Fort Hays State University where I currently hold emeritus status. I loved the vast variety of subjects that I photographed and the people I met but yearned for the freedom to pursue the subjects that I preferred. Since taking an early retirement from Fort Hays State University in 2007, Margaret and I have had the opportunity to travel and photograph throughout most of the western states as well as Mexico, Tahiti, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Russia, and Sweden.
